ALEXA- TRAVEL OT & MENTOR/COACH
She has been practicing as an OT since 2021 and began her travel therapy journey in 2022, quickly discovering a strong passion for school-based therapy and supporting students with diverse needs.
Alexa often travels alongside her husband, Connor, who is also a travel OT and mentor with Teach Travel Therapy. Together, they have completed contracts across Montana, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, and California, gaining valuable experience in a variety of locations and clinical environments.
Originally from the Midwest, travel therapy has taken Alexa far beyond what she ever imagined. From ice climbing in Alaska and backpacking the Grand Canyon to learning to snowboard in Lake Tahoe, the travel lifestyle has allowed her to combine professional growth with unforgettable life experiences. She is currently on assignment in California, living just a short walk from the beach and attempting to learn how to surf.
Alexa earned her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Although she had heard about travel therapy in school, she didn’t know anyone from her program pursuing it, yet she decided to take the leap. Her passion for school-based OT and special education began through her involvement with Best Buddies, a mentoring program for individuals with disabilities. As a freshman, she joined the organization and later served on the executive leadership team alongside Connor, an experience that shaped her commitment to mentorship, advocacy, and community.
Through travel therapy, Alexa has learned how to build a meaningful career while fully embracing life outside of work. She is deeply grateful for the opportunities travel therapy has created and is passionate about helping other therapists feel supported, prepared, and confident as they begin their own travel therapy journeys.
